Hockey in Tasmania
Hockey is a growth sport, both in Tasmania and Australia, largely as a result of the continuing success of the national men’s and women’s teams. Local hockey has seen a high growth rate and a longer participation period than comparable sports.
The facilities in Hobart were upgraded in 2008 to world class standards, the $4.5 million redevelopment of the Tasmanian Hockey Centre in New Town was completed in May. The Tasmanian Hockey Centre is one of the most used sporting facilities in the state. Not only for hockey, but for functions, conferences, seminars and other events.
Tasmania has a men’s and women’s team in the National Hockey League and the future of the sport is extremely positive.
Hockey is now a year round sport. Southern Tasmania has six major hockey clubs, with distinct competitions for schools, junior, senior and veteran players. There are approximately 2000 players playing in winter and approximately 400 involved in summer rosters, plus countless parents/supporters.

OHA sponsorship policy is simple:
- Strive to maintain a long term relationship
- Value add to the Club and sponsor
- Apply sponsorship funds to player development such as subsidising junior fees and supporting advanced coaching skills.
